GUST Professor Appointed Associate Editor at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

Kuwait City, 6 June 2021: Head of the Computer Science Department at GUST, Associate Professor Dr. Mahmoud Elish, has been appointed as an Associate Editor for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)’s Access journal. The scope of this journal comprises all of IEEE’s fields of interest, emphasizing applications-oriented and interdisciplinary articles. IEEE Access is a Q1 journal with an impact factor of 3.745.
As an Associate Editor, Dr. Mahmoud Elish’s main role entails handling manuscript submissions through the review and decision process. He contributes to the journal by upholding high publication standards, as well as ensuring that IEEE Access maintains its rigorous, quality peer review. Dr. Elish will serve a three-year term that is renewable upon merit.
Associate Professor of Computer Science, Dr. Mahmoud Elish, said “Serving as associate editor for a top journal affirms the high expertise of GUST faculty members, and contributes toward the university's vision and mission. This is a great honor for myself but also for GUST.”
Dr. Mahmoud Elish has also recently been elevated to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. Only 10% of IEEE’s more than 400,000 members hold this grade, which requires extensive experience, and reflects professional maturity and documented achievements of significance. This is a testament to GUST’s efforts to elevate itself to a true knowledge hub, where teaching as well as research and information cultivation are at the fore of the mission.
