GUST Holds First Cycle of Internal Seed Grant

Kuwait City, 12 July 2021: Gulf University for Science and Technology’s (GUST) Graduate Studies and Research Office (GSR) held its first cycle of the 2020/21 Internal Seed Grant presentations on Wednesday 23 June. The hour long presentation, which took place in the Board of Trustees conference room, consisted of eight flash presentations of the different research initiatives that will be receiving the grant.

 

The presentations kicked-off with short welcome speeches by GSR Director, Professor Issam El-Moughrabi and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Bassam Alameddine who congratulated the faculty members on being selected for the Internal Seed Grant. The Internal Seed Grant application was offered to all GUST faculty however, only eight faculty members were selected after going through a rigorous selection process to receive the grant in its first cycle for the 2020/21 Academic Year. Those recipients are Dr. Khalid Kisswani, Dr. Khalid Elmawazini, Dr. Abdullah Al Mutairi, Dr. Christina Navarro, Dr. Hanan Badr, Dr. Taher Ali, Instructor Hana Ostad, and Dr. Manal Kady.

 

 

Vice President of Academic Affairs, Professor Bassam Alameddine, said “The Internal Seed Grant is a great opportunity to help promote GUSTs own faculty in achieving their aspired research goals. Good luck to this year's recipients in attaining these goals.”

 

The Internal Seed Grant was first introduced to GUST faculty in 2019 with the aim of encouraging GUST faculty to be more involved in potential research activities. This adheres to GUST’s strategy and helps develop it into a hybrid teaching and research institute.
